Comscore recently hosted an event entitled ��he State of the U.S. Online Retail Economy in Q2 2012�� with data based upon a global panel of 2 million online users (1M in the United States and 1M scattered around the globe). As I��e promised some readers, I will soon add my two cents on why I believe Best Buy (BBY) is in a situation that is materially different than that of office supply chain leader Staples (SPLS); this article will highlight some of those differences in terms of consumer behavior (which is tough to pull out in a lot of instances due to the lack of transparency into sales by category at Amazon).
Q2 2011 ecommerce sales were estimated at $37.5 billion (excluding auctions, autos, and large corporate purchases), an increase of 14% year over year. Ecommerce sales over the past decade were strong from 2002-2007 (roughly 20% comps on average), but slowed considerably from 2008-2010 as the economic crisis took its toll (dollar sales were +7%, -2%, and +9% over that three year period); today, it appears to be accelerating again, with low double digit growth in 2011 and through the first half of 2012. In comparison to overall retail sales growth, it is clear that ecommerce continues to take share, as has been the case for years (currently accounts for nearly 10% of discretionary consumer spending in the United States; roughly 9% of that spend comes from mobile/tablets); this data is consistent across a diverse group of consumers, with all income levels showing double digit growth over 2011.

Koss Corporation (KOSS) was no different because after looking over its balance sheet and profitability numbers I found substantial NOLs, little debt and reasonable profitability levels which usually are good signs that the company may be a good investment if the company is undervalued. This however is not an article about a company that I will ever invest in due to it being a grossly overvalued, dying company, which has major management concerns.

Yesterday after the market closed, small cap audio stock Skullcandy Inc (NASDAQ: SKUL) reported earnings and began rising in after hours trading, meaning its worth taking a closer look at the stock along with the performance of other audio stocks like mid cap Harman International Industries Inc (NYSE: HAR) and small caps Koss Corporation (NASDAQ: KOSS) and Parametric Sound Corp (NASDAQ: PAMT). Small cap Sodastream International Ltd (NASDAQ: SODA), an Israeli based developer, manufacturer and marketer of�home beverage carbonation systems, has attracted its share of hype over both its products and its stock, but could other small cap water stocks like Primo Water Corporation (NASDAQ: PRMW), Puresafe Water Systems Inc (OTCMKTS: PSWS) and Alkaline Water Company Inc (OTCBB: WTER) attract a similar following? After all, Sodastream International has managed to create a significant amount of buzz from consumers, investors and even short sellers because it�� the�world's largest manufacturer, distributor and marketer of home carbonation systems as its�brands are sold in over 60,000 retail stores in 45 countries. In November of last year when I first started to suggest Primo Water Corporation (NASDAQ:PRMW) was un undervalued and underappreciated investment opportunity, I received plenty of, shall we call them "colorful disagreements"? PRMW was still sitting in the shadow of a 95% selloff (for a couple of different reasons), and nobody seemed to the think the company was going to survive. I saw hope though, making me the outlier. Glad I was able to look past all the noise and bearish rhetoric and stay convicted to my idea - Primo Water shares are up 146% since my initial call. You know what though, in the same sense I was willing to zig then when everyone else had zagged, I think it's time to close the books on this then-unlikely winner. More on that in a second.

This stock broke out above some near-term overhead resistance at $2.14 and into new 52-week-high territory, which is bullish technical price action.
Traders should now look for long-biased trades in PRMW as long as it's trending Thursday's low of $1.97 and then once it sustains a move or close above its new 52-week high at $2.20 and above some past resistance at $2.28 with volume that hits near or above 145,397 shares. If we get that move soon, then PRMW will set up to enter new 52-week-high territory, which is bullish price action. Some possible upside targets off that move are its next major overhead resistance levels at $3 to $3.11.
